In January, the Miami City Commission approved the building of a soccer stadium in the city's Overtown neighbourhood. That same year, in September, the club's name, crest, and colours were revealed. The name ‘Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami’ or ‘Inter Miami CF’ signifies the international spirit of the city. The club's crest features two herons, symbolic of freedom, and a seven-sided shield, representing the seven seas.
